what is Covid-19 telehealth?

From 13 March 2020 temporary MBS telehealth items are available to help reduce the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 and provide protection for patients and health care providers.

This means patients who live in Melbourne can still have their regular consultations without having to attend the clinic.

How are telehealth sessions conducted?

We prefer to use a video link where possible. We use Skype, Facetime or Zoom.

Where a video link is not possible, a phone call is permissible.

telehealth charges

Covid-19 Telehealth consultations are privately charged at the regular billing rates. Please contact us to enquire further

Cancellation and rescheduling is possible with 48 hours notice. Cancellation fees are incurred if less than 24 hours notice is given.

Covid-19 Telehealth attendance MBS items are not payable for:

  • patients admitted to hospital.

  • for email consultations.

Telehealth consent

Even though the specialist and the patient aren’t at the same location during a telehealth video or phone consultation, under section 20A of the Health Insurance Act 1973 the patient's consent is still needed.

Your clinician will ask for 3 identifiers before proceeding.
